Stafa continues to seek sustainable solutions to reduce its direct and indirect CO2 emissions wherever possible. With our Green Team, we have developed a sustainability strategy and roadmap with many ambitious goals, and this is one we aimed to check off in 2024, which we have already achieved!
Together with our partner and manufacturer of tube and flat film, AVI Volendam, Stafa has succeeded in using LDPE film (Low-Density Polyethylene) consisting of 40% certified recycled material. In our production process, flat LDPE film is used to make bags with machines, which are then automatically filled with fasteners and other components (kitting).
Stafa packages millions of sets per year in this way. Earlier this year, we started using film containing 20% recycled material. However, through extensive testing, machine adjustments, and consultations with the manufacturer, we managed to take the next step. Producing this film is one thing, but it also needs to be processed on our machines and be suitable for our applications and products.
This posed some challenges, but we successfully overcame them together. A great new step towards reducing the carbon footprint in our supply chain!
